Philippines: Coron, un poco a medias.

Si, esta isla se me resiste. La vez anterior acabe mi viaje aquí sin poder bucear ya que no sabia lo que había, esta vez, volví para bucear en los pecios pero una quemadura en la pierna me impidió hacerlo de verdad.

El último día en Siargao me queme con el tubo de escape ( cosa de tontos) al bajar de la moto. Estuve cuidándome ese día y el de viaje a Coron, en barco desde Manila (6 horas de retraso, 15 de navegación) que fue super chulo. Esta vez el barco mucho mejor que el de Cebu a Surigao.

Decidí bucear al día siguiente: dos pecios japoneses (Tangat y Kogyo Maru, hundidos el 24 de Septiembre de 1944 por los Americanis) y Barracuda Lake. Coincidí con Anna, una chica de Madrid con la que había buceado en Apo Island, y fuimos las dos solas, con nuestro 'dive master candidate'.

Es bastante impresionante bucear dentro de la carcasa de estos barcos y pensar en cuando y como se hundieron, recorrer las salas, con la maquinaria, sacos de cemento apilados, hormigoneras...estos dos eran cargos, y tenian ambos unos 100 metros de eslora y se encuentran a 25 y 33 metros de profundidad.

Y tras esto fui al Barracuda Lake, un lago de agua dulce que a unos 12 metros de profundidad se mezcla con agua salada y tiene una termoclina que va de 28 a 35 grados. se puede ver claramente la linea y como se emborrona la visibilidad. Y bueno, os podeis imagnar lo que senti cuando mi quemadura se metio en el agua a 35 grados...

Al dia siguiente decidi no bucear y nos fuimos en un tour por las islas. esta vez el barco estaba hasta la bandera, y habia gente muy maja con la que luego compartimos unas cañas por la noche. Yo no podia bañarme asi que el dia fue duro, asi que el ultimo me lo tome con calma y me pase la tarde en la piscina (sin bañarme, claro).

Yes, second time in this island and still not being able to finish what I want to do. I went back for diving in the shipwreks but I could only do it one day. I got burned with the motorbike exahust the last day in Siargao, I rested for 2 days and the boat day to Coron (much nicer than the own from Cebu to Siargao), but and afer diving in Coron the first day I decided to give it a rest to see if I have a chance to heal it before next dive in Sulawesi.

All in all I dove in 2 WWII Japanese shipwrecks (Tangat and Kogyo Maru, both sunk on the 24th September 1944 by the US) and in Barracuda lake. Iwent diving with Anna (whom I met in Apo Island) and we were only the 2 of us and our dive master candidate. it is cool to dive in a shipwreak,, they were both like 100 meters long and they were cargos, one shunk to 25meters and the other 33 meters deep.

after that I did Barracuda Lake that starts with fresh water at 28 degrees and then there is termocline to 35 when it changes to salt water. That's when I thought I was going to die, with my fresh burnt wiphed in 35 degrees water...

So the next day no dive for me, we joined an island hopping tour, so cramed with people (a nice bunch for beers that night) but so beautiful, but it was a hard thay for me tring to avoid water all the time. Last day I decided to relax and went to the swimming pool (no swim though). 

Tips:

Boat from 2Go from Manila to Coron, normally 15 hours but with a 6 h delay due to the low tide. 2000php in economic class, so good. Cheaper on the way back.

SeaHorse Guesthouse, shared room (4pax) for 600 php, so clean and new. AC. Also double rooms. Just on the center of the Coron Proper town.

They have another restor and you can go to the swimming pool for free: Sunz en Coron.

There are many dive shops, I was recomended rockSteady. They offer 3 fun dives for 3500 php. I got it cheaper with Coron Divers, 2900 php.

Food is nice in Brujita, and drinks in Deep Blue and No name bar.

150php shuttle to the airport. 100 php airport fee.
